Car transport carriers include insurance coverage in your shipping quote. Our selected auto haulers must meet insurance standards before qualifying to be part of our carrier network, oper carriers hold up to $250,000 bumper to bumper insurance and enclosed carriers hold up to $3,000,000 bumper to bumper insurance.
Moving quotes includes liability coverage and an option for full value protection as well.
Down payment, yes or no?
When booking service – a holiday, a flight, a hotel stay, a restaurant table, a cinema ticket, etc. – you’re often required to put some money down to secure the service.
It’s only logical then that you may be asked for a down payment (deposit) when booking your car shipping or moving service as well – the customer needs a guarantee and assurance that no matter what the company they hired will work for them and get the result regardless the size of the job or how busy the company is, and the company needs a guarantee that you won’t bail out and cancel the job at the last moment, or booking with multiple companies at the same time as you do not need to pay anything, costing them money in lost time.
Charging a deposit is standard practice – many car shipping companies request a down payment to reserve a date, the spot on the driver’s truck, etc,
it is a kind of insurance for the customer– if you do not pay a deposit, and the company you chose has a big order at the same time you need your service, whom do you think they will help first? They did not obligate to you, comes the day of the pickup and they have no driver for you, all they will say is – sorry, we tried, and then what?
That said, the deposit, however, should be only for a small amount and should be refundable with sufficient notice of cancellation.
So, when looking for relocation services and comparing the services of different companies, you’re strongly advised to compare their payment policies as well and find out if they charge a deposit or not before making your choice.
Obligation goes both ways – If the customer wants the company to assign a driver / moving team and get the job done, the customer needs to pay a deposit to show the same obligation and commitment.
